The great  "Owl Odyssey" inspiration......

The Odyssey inspiration story began with a nice young man who wanted to present his family with a meaningful Christmas gift. The family loved their Grammy, and Grammy loved owls. The family has a wall dedicated to her collection.  Excited about his purchase, and once he got notice it had been shipped, the young man announced to the family group that he had purchased an Owl Bam mah jong set for the family so they could play with it at every get together.  The set should arrive just days before Christmas.

But wait,  the person selling the set decided that it wasn't going to happen, and some how managed to convince the shipping company to return the set.

Imagine the disappointment, Dr. Suess doesn't have the corner on Grinches,  even I was heartbroken.

The Grinch fighter inside me came up with a fun solution.  That Owl set that I have had for years was going to travel!!  So...  I wrapped it up and shipped it off to Lansing MI., it arrived just before Christmas.

I shared the rest of my idea with that family and they loved  it, and couldn't wait to start the Owl on it's long journey.  Holly sketched the original logo and the calligraphy . Joan came up with the name of the "Owl Odyssey",  thank you both for this wonderful gift.

The sketch is signed and dated and will be the first item in the scrapbook.

The Owl set is a 1930's chunky Chinese Bakelite set with 152 tiles  (8 stickered jokers).
